DMA/PhD = overqualification for high school positions?
Dear Colleagues, I am considering pursuing either a DMA or PhD to be qualified for collegiate teaching. I would, however, still like to be marketable for high school choral positions–especially if no college positions are available. In your opinion/experience, is obtaining a doctorate overeducating oneself for a high school position? Some advice I have received […]
Starting a new choir in High school
I have to start a choir in my high school. Generally the learners seem to be very negative about the concept of a choir. Any suggestions on how to cultivate a love for singing at high school and motivating learners to join the choir? Any other suggestion to make this successful will also be welcomed. Thank you.
Lajos Bardos
After the usual trawling (EMB, for instance and other websites) I’ve failed to find two pieces by the Hungarian composer, Lajos Bardos…I’m looking for SATB arrangements of his Kodaly koszontese and Bartok emlekere (I know that there’s an arrangement for children’s choir of the Bartok piece…but I don’t want it!). Beethoven Missa Solemnis – Sanctus and Benedictus Score Clarification
I would like to know as to the directive as to when the chorus entry starts for Sanctus. My conductors score and vocal score clearly shows SOLI for the entire sanctus and has the chorus entry at Benedictus at bar 114 for basses only AFTER the Praeludium. With SATB choir at bar 156 after more […]
