Angel Band
I'm a teacher at nursery schools and one of our favourite Christmas songs is Angel Band (There was 1, there were 2, there were 3 little angels. There were 4 etc etc). Is this an original song or has the tune been stolen from another? It would be great to have the proper piano part […]
Alleluia Setting
I was in a member of the MSVMA All State Honor Choir between 1993 and 1997. There was a setting of an Alleulia that I cannot remember the composer. It was unique in the fact that it had changing meters as it went from 7/8 to 8/8. I have been trying to find copies of […]
Singer’s Formant
I’m just finishing school. Rereading some of my vocal pedagogy books and I’m having a really hard time understanding the Singer’s Formant. Any help would be greatly appreciated. From what I am reading it’s a specific ring that occurs at a certain frequency. But isn’t the higher the frequency the higher the pitch? So […]
Lan O’Kun music
Hello: I am seeking info on choral arrangements of music by Lan O’Kun. I had occasion to hear some of his songs recently…in a 1969 DVD of The Littlest Angel, music for which was written by O’Kun. Some of the choral music for this TV musical is extraordinarily beautiful! I can find little about this […]

7th & 8th grade treble choir classes question
Just putting feelers out there about organizing 7th and 8th grade treble public school choirs. Would you rather have a class for all 7th graders and a class for all 8th graders, or mixed-grade varsity and non-varsity classes? I can see pros and cons for both scenarios. Thanks for your input!
From Heaven Above
From Heaven Above, an acappella work for mixed chorus by Wayland Rogers has been released by Boosey and Hawkes.
Meet the Brilliant Belgians Behind ‘The Social Network’ Trailer Choir, Scala & Kolacny Brother
Steven and Stijn Kolacny were just a couple of Belgians doing a cool thing — namely, arranging, recording and performing a mix of original songs and pop and rock covers with their 238-member girls’ choir, Scala & Kolacny Brothers. Then David Fincher tapped Scala’s take on Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ for ‘The Social Network’ trailer and, a […]
Repertoire for Symphonic Chorus, Youth Choir and Children’s Choir
Dear colleagues, I would be grateful for repertoire suggestions of pieces that could be used for the finale (or even the entire second half) of a programme featuring a family of choirs (Large adult symphonic chorus, youth choir and children’s choir); the piece should involve all three choirs and have relatively modest instrumental resources (organ, […]
