A Cappella Vocal Ensemble One of 51 Nonprofits Awarded MNAC Grant Funding
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (July 20, 2013) – The Metro Nashville Arts Commission (Metro Arts) recently announced $1,890,200 in grants to 51 local nonprofit organizations for 76 community projects and programs taking place during the 2013-2014 fiscal year. The Nashville Singers were awarded a $1,300.00 Basic Operating Support Grant.
The mission of the Nashville Singers is to enrich lives through singing and the support of music education. Nashville Singers Executive Director Todd Wilson responded, “Because all funded proposals included strategies to enhance the community through one or more key impact areas, including expansion and improvement of the creative workforce, increased availability of and participation in creative activities, and enhanced creative quality and innovation, we see this award as a vote of confidence from Metro Arts in the creative prowess and administrative capabilities of the Nashville Singers.” Wilson added, “This grant will help support our mission and better position us to share our music with a broader audience.”
Metro Arts Executive Director Jen Cole stated “Metro Arts is proud to invest in our creative community by supporting and developing high-quality local arts organizations and arts experiences that are accessible to all citizens throughout Davidson County. Based on recent national news reports, Nashville’s reputation is growing as a unique, global city with authentic local flavor, high quality of life, diverse cultures, multifaceted creative opportunities, strong businesses, and culinary acclaim.” Cole added, “These grants provide more Nashvillians with access to high-quality arts experiences that are innovative and educational.”
