Donation boosts cathedral choir

September 17, 2012 by Richard Allen Roe Leave a Comment

NOTTINGHAM, UK — THE choir of Nottingham's St Barnabas' Cathedral has been given a £25,000 boost from a group dedicated to developing music.  The grant from the Friends of Cathedral Music will go towards the choir's choral scholarship endowment fund, used to support gifted singers studying at the University of Nottingham to sing with the choir.

The gift comes ten years after the scheme was set up to help preserve the heritage of choirs through scholarships. Since 1956 the Friends of Cathedral Music has given nearly £2m to Anglican and Roman Catholic cathedral, church and collegiate chapel choirs across the UK and abroad.
