Composer search for spring 2019 commission

September 26, 2018 by Guillermo Munoz 10 Comments

The Heritage Chorale in Oak Park (IL) announces its composer search for a spring 2019 commission. The Heritage Chorale has had a tradition of premiering a choral work each season, and has performed commissions by composers such as Daniel Pinkham. Interested composers are welcome to submit previous work samples for review to artistic director, Guillermo Muñoz Küster, by replying to this announcement.

Timeline: composer to be selected in October/November with a preferred completion deadline of January 31, 2019 (for performance in April 2019).

Requested materials for consideration: 2 – 4 previously composed and performed works, preferably for chorus with an accompanying recording (if available).

Composition criteria: around 3-4 minutes of music, preferably a cappella or with piano accompaniment, only.

Theme/text: to be discussed with Artistic Director upon selection of composer.

Remuneration: to be discussed with Artistic Director.

Young composers are especially encouraged to apply, but all submissions are welcome.

    Dear Maestro Küster,

I recently learned about your search for a composer for the Heritage Chorale spring commission. I am a composer and choral musician that has written for a wide range of choirs, including community choirs. I have four recordings included in this post that reflect many of my styles. Please let me know how I can provide you with the scores if you are interested.

    Hi Guillermo,
I’m a published (Pavane, Hal Leonard) Chicago-area composer and would love to submit a couple of pieces. Is there an e-mail address I could use. Thanks!
    Sincerely,
    John Milne
