Celebrate America with a Family-Friendly Patriotic Sing-Along

October 30, 2017 by Diane Holcomb Leave a Comment

Raise your voice in song at Schola Cantorum Silicon Valley’s Patriotic Sing-Along, Sunday, November 19 at 3:00 pm, at the Los Altos United Methodist Church.

Led by Schola’s Assistant Conductor Dawn Reyen, the community sing-along, scheduled between Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving, “honors veterans and our country with patriotic tunes and songs about places in America,” she says. No experience is necessary; the words will be projected on a screen so participants can follow along.

With selections like “America the Beautiful,” “Deep in the Heart of Texas,” “New York, New York,” and “This Land is Your Land,” the goal of the gathering, according to Reyen, is to “forget our troubles in these uncertain times and look at the positives in our country, while building unity and recognizing our tremendous diversity.”

Patriotism is a new theme for Schola’s Sings; on December 18 the choral group will hold their annual Messiah Sing, and on February 11, their popular Valentine’s Sing-Along.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at ScholaCantorum.org, by phone at 650-254-1700, or at the door.
