An investigation of choral music teachers’ beliefs and practices related to musicianship; Stuart Chapman Hill, research team contact
Description: The purpose of this study is to measure self-reported beliefs about musicianship, and classroom practices pertaining to musicianship, among middle and high school choral music teachers in the United States. Through a survey design, the researchers aim to capture beliefs and classroom practices associated with five core tenets of Music Learning Theory: (a) audiation, (b) aptitude, (c) sequential learning, (d) whole-part-whole, and (e) individual assessment. We aim to investigate whether choral teachers’ behaviors and beliefs align with these core tenets of MLT and whether choral teachers’ beliefs align with their self-reported behaviors.
Seeking Participants: Calling all current middle- and high-school choral teachers in the United States! Please take part in a national survey about your beliefs and practices related to musicianship. The anonymous online survey will take about 15 minutes to complete. Your insights can help inform future research and curriculum development. ; CLICK HERE
