My 3-year-old Son Could Be Considered Tone-Deaf!

My 3-year-old Son Could Be Considered Tone-Deaf!

I have an adorable video to share of my son, Nolan, singing L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole.

As you will hear, the correct pitches are rarely to be found.

But, there is a clear reason why this is occurring:

Young girls have the opportunity to successfully sing along to pop songs that are sung by female singers.

Young boys do not have the opportunity to successfully sing along to pop songs that are sung by male singers.

Now, relating this to secondary-level choral teaching:

My blog post draws the parallel between a 3-year-old boy and the typical struggling middle school and high school singer.

I hope you will read the blog, and enjoy my son’s L-O-V-E rendition.

Find out why a student in your choir may be struggling and how you can help them.
