ChoralEd, Rehearsal Procedures and Expectations – Jason Sickel

November 4, 2026 by Micah Bland Leave a Comment

To promote classroom success, Jason Sickel lives by a simple oath: “Well-defined procedures and clear expectations trump everything else!” Establishing clear procedures in the classroom can save music teachers from a lot of headaches and strife. In ChoralEd Episode 58, Jason shares strategies for identifying and implementing practical classroom procedures. By focusing first on creating a safe classroom environment, students are afforded the opportunity to thrive in a productive classroom.

To ensure classroom procedures are effective, Jason recommends practicing and reinforcing these expectations regularly. Beyond the typical routines—entering and exiting the room or passing out music and materials—Episode 58 offers procedural suggestions for transitions and rehearsal expectations.
