A September Revelation

September 27, 2017 by ACDA 1 Comment

This week on ACDA Radio and ChoralNet, Going Beyond Words Host, Stan Schmidt invites you to an hour of music that is quiet with texts that can cause you to ponder why the world is so noisy when it dosen’t need to be. Composers represented are Kim André Arnesen, Wolfram Buchenberg, Patrick Hawes, Anthony Maglione and René Clausen, with Music performed by The University of Georgia Hodgson Singers;  The Orpheus Vokalensemble from Germany and The Elora Singers from Canada. This broadcast includes three World Premieres, Splendor Paterne Glorie from a CD for Choir and Solo Violin;  Be Still and Know by English Composer Patrick Hawes; and a text from the Song of Solomon set by Anthony Maglione with a magnificent choral sound led by Daniel Bara from the University of Georgia. The broadcast feature is a an unaccompanied composition called Revelation by Patrick Hawes of England as he musically discusses the book of Revelation and its powerful imagery.  Noel Edison and his Elora Singers guide us through the nine movements of this interesting work.

For a look at the CD’s used and a complete list of the music heard go to the blog of WWW.GOINGBEYONDWORDS.COM website and click on show 2347

I went to the website, but there are not active links for the weekly broadcasts. I would love a list of the pieces performed. Any insights you can give would be appreciated. Thanks!
