This week on Going Beyond Words and ACDA Radio Host Stan Schmidt  takes you toward the Lenten season and a piece of Music  from the Tyberg Project….Music Lost in the Holocaust.   This visit begins with the Sacred Spirit of Russia with “Now the Powers of Heaven” the music of Gretchaninov offered by Conspirare….The next consideration is music of Johann Sebastian Bach and the first verse of BWV 4…Christ Lag in Todesbanden performed by the Monteverdi Choir…..Then a stunning Passion Cantata by Max Reger “O Houpt voll Blut und Wunden” based on “O Sacred Head How Wounded” presented by the SWR Vocal Ensemble of Germany.    To finish this broadcast of significant music you will hear the Premiere Recording of “Mass #2 in F Major” by Marcel Tyberg presented by The South Dakota Chorale as they are guided through this music that reverberates the joy of a devout man and brilliant musician.   The Mass creates an ambiance of late Romantic structure and the harmonic composition resembles other masters like Mahler and Bruckner.   This Mass is within the capabilities of many choirs.
