Going Beyond Words w/ Stan Schmidt
Show 2318 – Choral Thoughts of Canadian Composers
This week on Going Beyond Words and ACDA Radio Host Stan Schmidt takes you North of the border for Choral Thoughts of Canadian Composers. As Choral directors we use a large quota of our time looking for the right piece for the right concert and on this broadcast you will hear some very useful pieces for your ensembles and your audiences as well; I have also included music usable for Advent and Christmas. Some of the composers represented are Leonard Enns, Welford Russell, Barrie Cabena, Larry Nickel, Timothy Corlis and John Beckwith. Music with sensitive texts that will stimulate your singers.
For a look at the CD’s used and a complete list of the music heard go to the blog of WWW.GOINGBEYONDWORDS.COMwebsite and click on show 2318

To know more about Canadian choral composers and their works, you can visit Musica, the worldwide database of the choral repertoire (www.musicanet.org).
To limit your repeertoire searches for Canada, you can always indicate the criterion Canada for “country of the composer” (among many other possibilities).
If you are an ACDA member, access to Musica through the “membership resources” of http://www.acda.org, in which case you will benefit from an unrestricted full privileged access to Musica. Same if you are a member of Choral Canada, through http://www.choralcanada.org
