FIVE FROM THE FOLDER: SATB by Lisa Larsen
1. “Jabberwocky.” Sam Pottle. SATB, Heritage Music Press, #15/2088H
Wonderful character piece, dramatic and funny, added percussion. Based on part of “Alice in Wonderland”
2. “Tambur.” Lajos Bardos. Boosey & Hawkes, SATB, #48003807
Hungarian dancing song with easy to learn words. Students love this one.
3. “Neighbors’ Chorus.” Jacques Offenbach. Broude Bros., SATB, #BB130
From “La Jolie Parfumeuse” Gossip Offenbach style. So much fun to perform.
4. “O Freedom.” Lloyd. Kjos Music, SATB, #8713
Haunting spiritual about freedom, a cappella and not very difficult. Meaningful for students.
5. “The Water is Wide.” Grant Cochran. EC Schirmer, SATB #6697
Almost #1 on my list. Combination of “Shenandoah” and “Water is Wide.” Can use small group in center section. Very touching arrangement.
