A video interview with Alan Gilbert, music directory of the NY Phil, includes some fascinating motion-capture computer graphics of his hand motions. Would that we could all have this kind of video taken for analyzing our own gesture!

  1. The article is worth reading but the video really says it all.   Thanks for posting this, I wouldn’t have seen it otherwise.   The notion of having your ears open and really hearing the music is spot on.  What a difference it makes for a conductor at any level.
