Best recruiting poster of the year, so far

January 18, 2012 by Allen H Simon Leave a Comment

The Simon Fraser University choir in Vancouver BC riffs from HBO's Game of Thrones. I haven't seen the TV show, but I'm reading the book, which features the same catchphrase, Winter Is Coming.

They have other posters based on Skyrim, Lord of the Rings, Dr. Horrible, and more.

We have videos of almost all our performances:

Dr Horrible was a joint arrangement between myself and a friend, Game of Thrones, Skyrim, and a few others were also arranged internally, but there is a lot of good music out there for choir that’s popular and interesting.

Any you making any videos of these performances?  I thought about doing Dr. Horrible with my kids but alas, one can only go so far with an elementary school choir.  I love that you are choosing repertoire from genres that will actually attract the geeky young people that so often fill the seats in every choir.  You may be my new hero.

Wow, this is my choir – I’m so glad you guys like these. We chose this poster because we’re actually performing the Game of Thrones theme this April (along with Skyrim, and Lord of the Rings, and did Dr Horrible in the past), and all of the posters were created by the students themselves. They are a fantastic, talented and geeky bunch who have done wonders for our recruiting!

Any copyright or pay-for-use issues here?
