Choral Caffeine: Thanksgiving 2011

October 25, 2011 by Scott Dorsey Leave a Comment

Choral Caffeine is here weekly to motivate, stimulate, and educate.

But that’s NOT what is important this Wednesday.

If I may opine.  Take a couple days away from frenetic 21st-century digital madness.  Look at the smile on the face of a family member, not a tiny glowing screen.  Listen to the sound of a child’s laughter, not the tinny sound of ear-buds.  Touch the face of a loved one, not a touch-screen.  Hold your partner’s hand, not your cell phone.

Recapture your humanity in the present, in the tangible, in the real.  And be thankful.

This year I am extremely grateful for lots of things, and the existence of ChoralNet–and my new colleagues, friends, and mentors found through it–is very high up on my list.  In my opinion, all the people involved with ChoralNet exhibit the very best kind of “humanity” there is.  Thank you all.

    Scott,

What a wonderful message.   Gratitude uplifts and heals us in so many ways.  Yes, we must pull away from our usual pursuits and take time to be truly thankful at Thanksgiving and every day of our lives.

Thank you for posting this wonderful message, Scott. I agree with you and I wish everybody on ChoralNet a “real day”. I think that in any case choral music helps our society to remain connected with the human aspect and this is very important. : – )
