God has a sense of schadenfreude

May 7, 2010 by philip copeland Leave a Comment

schadenfreude.jpgA soprano has a bad night:

There were times when I didn’t even want to look at David, even though I knew I should. I mean, he is the Conductor and all. I suppose I should have looked at what he was doing occasionally.

But I knew he’d be giving me the Evil Eye and waggling that horrible Finger Of Doom at me, pointing to indicate that my pitch had gone so far south it was seeing penguins.

So I just stared into space, hoping that God, or Someone, would take pity on me and help me out a bit.

Nothing doing. Turns out God was at someone else’s church last night. Either that, or he has one wicked sense of humour and was accepting all our stuff-ups gleefully.

Henceforth I know God has a sense of schadenfreude.

Read the whole thing here.
