Byrd, Hassler, etc.

I am looking for piece similar to Byrd’s Haec Dies or Hassler’s Verbum Caro Factum Est for large (80 voice) capable high school choir.  I have very strong men, decent altos, and a weak soprano section.   Anyone have any suggestions?

Unison sacred pieces for small choir,

My volunteer choir currently consists of 3 sop. 3 alti, 1 very elderly bass and 1 tenor who can sing occasionally.  Most are good readers (except the bass, who really has difficulty learning anything new). I have been working with them many years and they can sing beautifully in unison.  I welcome any suggestions for selections […]

Percentage of participation in churches

If any of you who are involved in church programs could respond to me, ether privately, or in the forum, with the percentage of members attending any particular service that are participating in the special music (i.e., as choir members, bell groups, orchestra members or soloists), I would be very appreciative.  I think I recall […]

Church Choir Spring Program Ideas

Hi, I’m looking for ideas for a spring program for my church choir. We usually present an Easter cantata the week before or after Easter but this year our program will be in May instead. Do you know of any non-Easter satb cantatas? Or do any of you have ideas for a program with Scripture […]

Gawthrop Behold this mystery accompaniment

I’m interested in this lovely piece but am wondering if it can be performed with organ instead of chamber orchestra. Our space and resources are limited but our organ and organist are exceptional.

Developing the Choir from Scratch

So I have a situation: I am in my second year as the Middle School Youth Choir Director at my church and it is still in its beginning stages. The problem is that I only have two (about to have four) in my choir/ensemble/etc. I would at least like 8 to 10 singers in this […]
