Wayland Rogers new publication
“Gentle Words”, a Shaker song arranged for mixed chorus a cappella by Wayland Rogers has just been released by Alliance Music Publications.
Length of Concert
I am currently involved in a discussion with my executive board of my community chorus as to what the appropriate length is for a concert. We are a community chorus with a 23 year history that performs three concerts a year and typically have 14 weeks to prepare each concert. We charge $15 admission for […]
Suggestions or ideas for a concert on the theme ‘Ave’
I am planning a concert of a cappella music based on the theme – Ave – Hail, as in Ave Maria, Ave Verum etc. Your thoughts and ideas would be greatly appreciated. The Tudor Choristers is an SATB choir, happily dividing to 8 or more parts. They are competent singers so the music can be […]
Unstaged performances of “Amahl and the Night Visitors”
Greetings, I am engaged in some research for a choral director who has the following question: “I would be interested in knowing if anyone has ever presented an Amahl and the Night Visitors unstaged, but with ballet dancers doing the ‘action,’ and vocal soloists and chorus providing the ‘live’ music.” If you have […]
Haydn’s Creation
We are scheduled to present Haydn’s Creation in May. Cannot afford a full orchestra. Is there a smaller orchestra version, perhaps with organ available? Or are there any other suggestions. Thanks.

I thought vocalists would benefit from the ability to have visual feedback […]
Re: Choir sung report for church annual meeting
What a great idea! Since everyone seems to fear the boredom of annual meetings, this would lighten the load and perhaps encourage some real-time thinking and acting rather than the “let’s just vote and get out of here” attitude. Might give it a try myself.
Re: Choir sung report for church annual meeting
Earlier this school term, my kids and I were forced into “performing” for a pta meeting (you don’t want me to start on that one…), so we made it fun: we chanted some of the lesson plans, vocalise, and stories about new hymns they were learning – to the old Gregorian psalm tones 2 and […]
Choir sung report for church annual meeting
I need a short choral piece – madrigal form – solo or anything in between to use at the annual meeting for the choir to sing at the church annual meeting. The priest wants a sung report which is humorous rather than a written report. With just finish Christmas and his installation – my creativity […]
