We Dream a World
Sunday, November 6, 2022, 3 p.m.
Old First Reformed UCC, 4th & Race Streets, Philadelphia, PA
Singing City opens its 75th anniversary season with We Dream a World. This concert will feature contributions to the choral art from women, all within the last 75 years. A highlight will be the premiere of The Canticle of Hannah, a new work by Philadelphia composer Melissa Dunphy, commissioned by Singing City. Featuring works by Elizabeth Alexander, Margaret Bonds, Emma Lou Diemer, Jane Marshall, and more. Associate Conductor Nathan Zullinger, conducting.
We will also premiere two new works by women composers that will be included in the Singing City Songbook, a project in celebration of our 75th anniversary. We are commissioning 24 new works in this first edition by composers from across the country as well as several from Philadelphia. The Songbook will be used for our many informal engagements that take place in neighborhoods throughout Philadelphia. Tickets and more information at singingcity.org.
