The European Music Festival for Young People (EMJ) is a musical event that brings together nearly 4,000 musicians, children, and young people under the age of 28, from various countries around the globe. This festival is annually held in Neerpelt, Belgium, during the first weekend of May. It alternates between an instrumental festival and a choir festival.
The festival’s activities are entirely consistent with the lives of children and adolescents, with the objective of promoting a moment of musical enjoyment and camaraderie.
Each group is invited to perform in front of an international jury of composers and conductors, in addition to our fundamental principles of fraternization and mutual respect, which enable us to profoundly appreciate the talents of one another. In addition to evaluating each performance, this expert jurors will furnish each group with a personalized and inspiring evaluation report.
The 74th vocal iteration of our festival for children’s, youth, and university choirs will be held in 2026. Our website contains all necessary registration information.
