The choral music of Sergey Taneyev is rarely performed in the USA, but on October 4 the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus will present “Prometheus” in what is surely the regional premiere of a work written in 1909. Its technical challenges and demand for a thick choral texture put this piece beyond the reach of many choirs, but the Chamber Chorus is ideally structured to give an authoritative performance, thanks to the language coaching of Professor Mikhail Palatnik of Washington University.
The 3 pm performance in the Second Baptist Church of Richmond Heights, St. Louis, opens the Chamber Chorus’s 71st annual season. Tickets and more information are available from its website.
