The Susquehanna Chorale, a Pennsylvania-based adult chamber ensemble of 40 auditioned singers under the direction of Artistic Director, Founder and Conductor Linda L. Tedford, will present three performances of their spring concert, A Thousand Beautiful Things:
- Friday, May 17, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. at the Derry Presbyterian Church, Hershey
- Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. at the Market Square Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg
- Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 4 p.m. at the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts (Parmer Hall), Messiah University, Mechanicsburg
Craig Hella Johnson’s setting of the Annie Lennox piece, 1000 Beautiful Things, was the inspiration for the Chorale’s 2024 spring concerts. The program includes sacred favorites like Handel’s Sing Unto God and the Tallis If Ye Love Me, recent works from Ola Gjeilo and Dan Forrest, and powerful spirituals including Walk Together Children by Anthony Leach and a men’s version of It is Well with my Soul. The plaintive sound of the oboe and cello will be interwoven throughout the concert and featured in the moving David’s Lamentation and the well-known Gabriel’s Oboe.
The concert will be preceded by a 15-minute instrumental recital.
