Young Singers Are Invited to Apply to the Susquehanna Chorale’s 2024–2025 Season Auditions
Annual auditions for the Susquehanna Chorale’s Educational Outreach Program (EOP) have been announced. The Susquehanna Children’s Chorale, directed by Judith Shepler, the Susquehanna Youth Chorale, led by Dru Deitch, and/or the Susquehanna Young Women’s Chorale, directed by Mitchell Sensenig-Wilshire, are open to auditions for young singers (including those starting 4th grade through college in the fall of 2024).
The Susquehanna Chorale’s Educational Outreach Program was established to provide gifted young vocalists with a chance to practice and perform at a high level of artistic excellence alongside other driven singers. The EOP aims to inspire upcoming generations of choral singers and is meant to supplement current school music programs. Additionally, vocalists who might be homeschooled or would not otherwise have the chance to participate in choral singing with their classmates have a platform in EOP ensembles.
The following locations will host auditions by appointment only: Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg on Tuesday, July 16 (6:30 p.m. start time), and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hershey on Saturday, July 1 (1:00 p.m. start time). From August through November, the three young chorales practice on Tuesday nights. The main goal of rehearsals is to be ready for the annual Youth Choral Festival in November and the Scholarship Benefit Concert in October. Scholarships are offered to help pay for geometry dash subzero education.
The repertory of EOP spans many historical eras and musical genres. During practice, the focus is on building vocal talents through good pedagogical techniques, promoting a lifelong enthusiasm for the choral art, and studying excellent choral material that is especially relevant for each chorus level.
