Austria’s premier international youth music festival for choirs, bands, and orchestras.
Each year, nearly 2,000 young musicians from around the world come together in Vienna to participate in a remarkable celebration of music and culture. The Summa Cum Laude Festival is held in the city’s most iconic and beautiful concert venues, including the Golden Hall of the Musikverein, the Grand Hall of the Konzerthaus, and the MuTh Concert Hall, home of the renowned Vienna Boys’ Choir.
Set in an inspiring international environment, the festival offers five days of high-level music-making, intercultural exchange, and artistic enrichment. Participants have the option to join either the Competition or the non-competitive Celebration category. Competing ensembles present their own selected repertoire alongside required works set by an international jury. Each group is encouraged to include at least one piece from their home country, reflecting the global spirit of the festival.
Workshops and educational lectures are conducted by distinguished professionals at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. All ensembles take part in these sessions, and each musician receives a certificate upon completion. Additional concerts for local audiences, as well as pre- and post-festival tours throughout Europe, further enrich the experience.
