The annual holiday program by the Saint Louis Chamber Chorus, Sunday 17th December at 3 pm, includes both the unusual and the unfamiliar. Two significant pieces of ‘Americana’ are provided by Virgil Thomson (“Scenes from The Holy Infancy”) and Paul Nelson (“In Bethlehem, That Noble Place”). Carols rarely heard in the USA from Australians William James and Malcolm Williamson are complemented by a new commission from Tony Silvestri (poet) and Kerensa Briggs (music). English carols from Peter Warlock, Bob Chilcott and John Rutter complete the program. Concertgoers will appreciate not only the rich acoustic of Second Presbyterian Church, in the Central West End, but also its beautiful furnishings, which include several Tiffany windows.
