Caritas Chamber Chorale, directed by Barbara Sanderman, will present two concerts of a cappella sacred music, entitled Sacred Tribute, for the benefit of Adorno Fathers’ Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa.
Through the music, Sacred Tribute offers gratitude to God and seeks to acknowledge all who make it possible for Caritas to support the African Mission, including the people of the Mission area, the Adorno Fathers, and especially Caritas’s audiences.
A diverse selection of sacred, a cappella choral music – offered in gratitude – will provide a feast for the ears. The repertoire includes Palestrina’s Sicut Cervus, Paul Basler’s Gloria from Missa Kenya, and gems by Michael John Trotta, Jane Marshall, and others. The audience will be honored with Rise Up, My Love, My Fair One by Healey Willan, with scriptural text from Song of Songs. Susan LaBarr’s setting of the Sara Teasdale poem, Grace Before Sleep, concludes the evening; its final text being “Accept, O Lord, our thanks tonight.”
The concert will be presented on:
• Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 7:30 pm at Christ Church, 561 Springfield Ave., Summit, NJ
• Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 4 pm at St. Catharine Church, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake, NJ
The concerts are free and open to the public. The entirety of a freewill offering will benefit the Pierluigi Fabbiani Nursery School, the Gianni Diurni Primary School and the Foyer de l’Enfance Paolo Di Nardo Orphanage, run by the Adorno Fathers’ St. Francis Caracciolo Mission in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa.
