Riverlight Community Choir Announces Winter Concert Series “Songs of Hope”

The Riverlight Community Choir is welcoming the winter season with a special series of concerts celebrating music, friendship, and the power of community. Following a successful year of performances throughout the region, the 40-member choir is preparing an uplifting program featuring contemporary choral works alongside beloved seasonal selections.

Under the direction of conductor Emily Morgan, the choir will present two free performances of “Songs of Hope.” The first concert will take place on Saturday, December 6, at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Seattle. A second performance is scheduled for Sunday, December 14, at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Arts Center in Tacoma.

The choir will be joined by several talented guest musicians, including pianist Daniel Reed, violinist Maya Lee, percussionist Jordan Alvarez, and harpist Sophie Bennett.

Music That Brings People Together

This winter program explores themes of hope, gratitude, remembrance, and renewal. Each piece has been carefully selected to create a musical journey that moves from peaceful reflection to joyful celebration.

“During the winter months, people often look for moments of connection and encouragement,” said Morgan. “We hope these concerts provide a welcoming space where everyone can pause, listen, and share an experience through music.”

The repertoire will include works from both established and contemporary composers, offering audiences a diverse mix of expressive harmonies, traditional influences, and modern choral sounds.

A Celebration of Community

Now entering its ninth concert season, Riverlight Community Choir continues to bring singers of different backgrounds together through a shared love of music. Members rehearse throughout the year and regularly participate in community events, seasonal programs, and local arts initiatives.

“Our singers bring so much enthusiasm and dedication to every rehearsal and performance,” Morgan added. “The most rewarding part is seeing how music creates connections between performers and audiences.”

Both concerts are free and open to the public, with optional donations supporting future community performances and educational programs.
