NaperVoice, a new philanthropic choir adult choir with the mission “Sing well. Do good.”, presents its Inaugural Concert on Sunday, November 20, 3:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 300 E. Gartner Road in Naperville, Illinois. The Founding Conductor and Artistic Director of NaperVoice is Philip Spencer, a graduate of the Yale University School of Music. Each NaperVoice concert will raise funds for a different charitable organization. Entitled “Gather in Gratitude”, this first program will feature choral music from classical, gospel, musical theater, and vocal jazz genres by significant composers including Brahms, Rutter, Whitacre, Runestad, and Powell. The 35 auditioned singers in this unique new choir include 16 paid professionals and 19 volunteers from 20 different communities throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. A professional percussionist, award-winning pianist, and gifted high-school violinist will accompany the choir, with children from the audience invited to learn and play a “son cubano” rhythm with small percussion instruments on one selection. The concert will also feature NaperVoice’s first College Student Conducting Intern leading one work, Nazarii Mykhailenko, from Roosevelt University in Chicago. All net proceeds will benefit Feed My Starving Children. Tickets in advance are available online at napervoice.org or at the door the day of the concert.
