The Mohawk Valley Choral Society, under the David Kolb will present its next concert at the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes on Sunday, May 19 at 4:00 p.m.
Accompanied by a chamber orchestra, the chorus will sing three pieces by Randall Thompson and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Requiem”.
The chorus will open with two of Thompson’s settings of Robert Frost’s poems: “The Road Not Taken”, and “Choose Something Like a Star” and will conclude with his sorrowful “Alleluia” written on the eve of the United Stated entrance into World War II.
The chorus will next sing Mozart’s Requiem. This somber choral piece is well known to the general public due to its frequent use as background music in both movies and television programs
Soloists for the Requiem, will be Victoria Popritkin, Soprano; Juan Tello, Tenor; Ying Wu, Alto and Marc Webster, Bass.
