Melodia’s fall concert features music that celebrates the dynamic journey of Womanhood. Sarah Quartel’s She Sang the Stars (NY premiere), based on excerpts from the epic Finnish poem “The Kalevala,” tells the stories of womanhood in different phases of life. Also featured is Kim André Arnesen’s epic setting of the Magnificat, described by Gramophone magazine as “a genuine masterpiece.” Plus works by Hildegard von Bingen and Ethel Smythe.
