Launch Into the Light: Choral Works Accompanied by Paintings of J.M.W. Turner

Voci Women’s Vocal Ensemble presents Launch Into the Light, a multimedia performance showcasing works by visionary painter J.M.W. Turner, accompanied by songs of light—the light of the sun, moon, and stars that guide our days and nights; the spiritual illumination that may light our lives; and the inherent powers of creation and destruction found in fire and other elements. Composers range from Thomas Morley to Carl Orff, Katerina Gimon, and the Wailin Jennies. Texts are by writers as diverse as Rabindranath Tagore, St. Francis of Assisi, William Shakespeare, and Sara Teasdale.
Two performances:
Sat., Nov 14, 5 p.m., Piedmont Center for the Arts, 801 Magnolia Ave, Piedmont CA 94611
Sun., Nov. 15, 5 p.m., St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 66 St Stephens Dr, Orinda CA 94563
