The Schiller Institute NYC Chorus begins it’s spring season this week. Our repertoire for a concert mid-April will include two Spirituals: Harry Burleigh’s Ezekiel Saw de Wheel, and Hall Johnson’s When I Was Sinkin’ Down, and 5 choruses from Part 2 of Handel’s Messiah.

The first full chorus rehearsal of the year will be this Thursday, 1/19, at Good Shepherd-Faith Church, 152 W 66th St, Manhattan, 6:30 – 8:00 pm. In addition to weekly rehearsals in Manhattan, we will soon resume our North-NJ chapter rehearsals on Tuesday evenings. Rehearsals are held in-person, with a Zoom hookup for those unable to attend in person (ie long-distance).
No auditions. All voice types welcome. Hard-working beginners welcome! Weekly sectional rehearsals are held (in-person and Zoom) for each voice type. All rehearsals and performances are held at the Verdi tuning A=432 Hz. Safety protocol is to test negative for Covid the day of a rehearsal/performance or wear a mask. Members are also requested to not attend if feeling sick.
