Please join us for an afternoon of exquisite harmonies and lively rhythms!
Reena Esmail’s Malhaar: A Requiem for Water brilliantly integrates Hindustani and Western music, with selections from the traditional Latin Requiem, poetry of Wendell Berry and William O’Daly, and Hindi text. It is a soulful plea to treasure and preserve the source of all life. The work premiered to great acclaim in 2023 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
Our performance will feature singer Apoorva Mudgal, percussionist Andrew Thomson, and tabla player Haroon Samuel.
We will extend the joys of the holiday season a little further with Carols and Lullabies, Spanish songs from a variety of traditions including Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Catalonia reconceived as an integrated suite by Conrad Susa. He described it as a “Southwestern pinata party”!
The chorus will be accompanied by guitarist Dan Lippel, harpist Alyssa Reit, and Andrew Thomson on marimba.
Hudson Chorale will be under the baton of Artistic Director David Baranowski.
The concerts will be on Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26 at 3pm
at the Chapel at Maryknoll, 55 Ryder Road, Ossining, NY 10562
