Dreamer City’s fifth anniversary season

Dreamer City’s fifth anniversary season begins with Like A Dream. All of the pieces performed today were composed by women and are no older than five years. One of the highlights will undoubtedly be the premiere of Melissa Dunphy’s commissioned piece for Singing City, The Canticle of Hannah. containing works by a variety of writers, such as Elizabeth Alexander, Jane Marshall, Emma Lou Diemer, and Margaret Bonds. Nathan Zullinger, an associate conductor, is leading the orchestra.

We will also be introducing two new works by female composers for the Dreamer City Songbook to celebrate our fifth anniversary. We are commissioning 24 new pieces by American composers, many of whom are from Philadelphia, for this first season. We will use the songbook for all of our informal meetings throughout the communities of Philadelphia.
