The New South Festival Singers, founded by William Baker in 1985 as “Gwinnett Festival Singers,” is celebrating the 40th anniversary of their first rehearsal with a gala concert on Sunday, February 23, 4:00 PM, at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Atlanta. The NSFS will be joined by the founding director, The Kansas City-based William Baker Festival Singers and The Georgia Youth Choir, under the director of Alyssa Gangarosa. The 90-minute concert is free and the public is invited.
The New South Festival Singers is a semi-professional chorale dedicated to the performance of short-form sacred a cappella classics, new works, spirituals and gospels, in addition to annual performances of choral-orchestral masterworks. The anniversary celebration will also honor present music director, Lynn Swanson, who will be retiring at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 concert season. www.NewSouthFestivalSingers.org
