Sunday, 17th December, at 3 pm, sees the world premiere of “Seeking You,” a collaborative commission between British composer Kerensa Briggs and American poet, Charles Anthony Silvestri. It provides the centerpiece for a program titled “The Holy Land” that also features “Scenes from The Holy Infancy” of Virgil Thomson, the tributes of the Three Kings depicted by Lassus, Healey Willan and Peter Cornelius. Unusual additions to the concert include Australian carols from William James and Malcolm Williamson. The concert is presented in the architectural and acoustic treat that is Second Presbyterian Church, in the Central West End. Conductors Philip Barnes, Caroline Ibnabdeljalil and Orin Johnson lead the fifty voice choir that specializes in a cappella repertoire. Those attending will be able to greet Kerensa Briggs after the concert as she’s flying in to St. Louis for the premiere.
