The Cantare Chorale presents Ernest Bloch’s masterpiece Sacred Service (Avodat Hakodesh), directed by David Morales with baritone soloist Simon Barrad, full orchestra, and introductory remarks from Roslyn Barak, Cantor Emerita of Congregation Emanu-El, San Francisco.
This 20th century masterwork depicts the full Jewish Sabbath Service. Its textual themes extend beyond the boundaries of any one religion or culture, capturing our imagination in assessing our place in the grand design of Life. Cantare’s Chamber Ensemble will also present Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs.
