Reprise Choir Sings News Release – For Immediate Release
Vancouver, WA—

Reprise Choir Sings presents, “Beyond the Dawn” a concert celebrating the rising of the sun, blue skies, heavenly music, stars and their light, and the “vast eternal sky” in a concert of glorious choral music accompanied by strings, solo oboe and four-hand piano. Concert one is Thursday, March 16 at 7:00 p.m. at La Center Middle School, 2001 NE Lockwood Creek Rd, La Center, WA with La Center High School and Middle School choral students and their director, Rhonda Catchpole. The second and third concerts are Saturday, March 18 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 19 at 3 p.m. at Vancouver First United Methodist Church, 401 E 33nd Street, Vancouver, WA. Performances by the 33-voice Reprise Choir are open to the public. Donations are welcome at the door.

Directors Janet Reiter and April Duvic, along with the singers of Reprise Choir, have prepared a program of songs that draw attention to all things celestial: the sun, stars, heavens, sky, and beyond. Joining the choir on two works are local string players as well as Victoria Racz on oboe. Composers featured in the program include Mack Wilberg, George Harrison, Irving Berlin, Franz Joseph Haydn, Ola Gjeilo. Reprise Choir will perform the world premiere of “The Dawn” by the up-and-coming Washington State composer Daniel Schreiner (https://danielschreiner.com/). The student singers from La Center middle and high school will perform two selections and join Reprise Choir on works by Z. Randall Stroope and Joseph M. Martin.

The mission of Reprise Choir is to present its singers, audiences, and community with a wide variety of choral music at the highest artistic level, and to collaborate with student musicians, encouraging them to pursue music throughout their lifetime. Founded by April Duvic and Janet Reiter in 2016, the choir is comprised of their former students, current students, singer friends, and area choral directors. Singer Robin Church shares, “It’s been such a joy to learn and grow with a choir again, and to come together with the two choir teachers who initially inspired my passion for music over 24 years ago (Katie Hebner and Janet Reiter), makes this experience even more meaningful.” First year member, Alicia Helm says, “I sang in Janet’s and April’s Clark College choirs when I was a teenager and have been missing the magic ever since. That feeling of voices singing together is one that cannot be replaced. It’s clear to me that Janet and April’s passion for music is still just as strong and infectious as it was when I sang with them ten years ago. I’m SO happy to have recently discovered Reprise Choir and thrilled to be singing with them again! Thank you, April, Janet, and all the singers for keeping choral music alive!”
