Ars Musica Chorale presents its first concert of the 2023-2024 season, presenting American Mosaic. a concert of choral music by American composers of the 20th and 21st centuries, under the baton of Music Director, Michael McCormick. The performance will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ridgewood, New Jersey.
The centerpiece of this American Mosaic is Randall Thompson’s Frostiana, a collection of seven pieces that set the poetry of American poet, Robert Frost. Also featured in this program are choral classics such as Samuel Barber’s “Sure on this Shining Night,” William Dawson’s “Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit,” and Richard Smallwood’s “Total Praise.” In addition, some newer arrangements of folk songs such as “Half Acre,” “Look Up, Look Down,” and “I Got a Hog and a Pig,” give new life to the American choral music tradition. Ars Musica Chorale invites you to explore American choral music’s most treasured pieces.
The chorus will be accompanied by pianist YiKyung Diana Hughes. Assistant Conductor, Jordan Koltz will also lead the Chorale.
Tickets are on sale now at www.arsmusica.org/concerts. Prices are as follows: $30 for adults, $25 for seniors/special needs, and $10 for students (with student ID). Children under 12 are free. Tickets will be available at the door.
