The San Francisco Choral Society concludes its 2023 season with the world premiere of Bronte by prolific Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, a new choral work commissioned by the organization and inspired by the poetry of Emily Bronte. Led by Artistic Director Robert Geary, the program will be presented as part of the California Festival: A Celebration of New Music, a two-week festival that brings together over 50 organizations and ensembles from across the state of California to showcase new works written within the past five years. Exploring further works inspired by poetry, the program will also include John Corigliano’s Fern Hill (poem by Dylan Thomas), David Conte’s I Dream a World (poem by Langston Hughes) and Brahms’ rarely-heard Zigeunerlieder, a collection of 19th century folk songs inspired by the Hungarian Romani tradition.
$37 to $53.
