Are you a software engineer with a passion for the vocal arts? We are seeking a Python Developer to assist in a short-term, volunteer capacity to help bridge the gap between choral tradition and modern technology. Our project focuses on streamlining digital sheet music libraries and enhancing rehearsal accessibility for community ensembles.
We are looking for a collaborator who understands the unique workflow of a choral director or singer. Ideally, you have experience with Django or Flask, and a familiarity with music notation software or MIDI processing libraries (like music21) is a significant plus. This is a one-event contract style engagement perfect for a developer looking to give back to the arts community or build a portfolio piece that resonates with their musical interests.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Develop and refine scripts for automated score organization.
-
Optimize database queries for our member directory and repertoire list.
-
Collaborate with our artistic director to ensure the UI is “singer-friendly.”
As ChoralNet is a hub for the singing community, we are specifically looking for a “singing coder”—someone who knows their way around a Mixolydian scale as well as a Git repository. Help us harmonize our tech stack and keep the music playing!
