January 7, 2016 by Sven Edward Olbash Leave a Comment

Star of the Sea Catholic Church in San Francisco will be auditioning new members for its various choirs on Thursday, January 28 from 7–9 pm (or by appointment). Please let us know you’re coming by emailing with your name and voice type.

St. Gregory Schola
Sings Gregorian chant every Sunday for the 11:30 am Missa cantata (Sung Mass) in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, also known as the Traditional Latin Mass.

St. Cecilia Chorale
Rehearses 3 Thursdays per month to prepare polyphonic Mass settings by composers like Victoria, Lassus, Monteverdi, Rheinberger, Vierne, and Langlais to sing at the Sunday 11:30 Latin Mass. St. Cecilia Chorale members are expected to participate in the St. Gregory Schola as well.

Star Parish Choir
This choir is perfect for beginning to intermediate singers and focuses on adding harmonies to the Ordinary chants and the Responsorial Psalm as well as singing simple English settings of the Proper of Mass. The Star Parish Choir rehearses Sunday mornings at 8:45 am for the 9:30 Mass in the Ordinary Form (Novus Ordo).

The choirs of Star of the Sea are directed by choral conductor Sven Edward Olbash, artistic director of San Francisco’s Lacuna Arts Ensemble and Chorale.
