Sing with us!
The Oriana Consort seeks experienced singers in all voice parts to join us for our spring 2019 concerts, with performances on March 22, 24, and 30. The program will include J.S. Bach’s Nach dir, Herr, verlanget mich (Cantata BWV 150), with period instrumental ensemble; the Massachusetts premier of a new piece by Timothy C. Takach, Moments in Film; the premiere of a new work for a cappella choir by Frank S. Li; and Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Missa O magnum mysterium.
The Oriana Consort is an accomplished chorale of 24-30 voices, with an eclectic repertory, enthusiastic audiences, and a warm, attractive sound. Listen to samples from recent concerts. Sunday evening rehearsals are held in Harvard Square.
We seek good-to-excellent readers with clear, center-of-the-pitch voices that work well with the group. Soloists are always drawn from the membership.
To schedule a half-hour audition in Cambridge on January 6, 8, 10, 12, or another time to be arranged, email director Walter Chapin at , noting your voice part and summarizing your choral and solo experience. You’ll join a quartet of Oriana members to read excerpts from our repertory and sing a brief but difficult choral part that you will receive two days before the audition, to prepare in advance. Please bring a solo of your choice.
