I posted this request on the old forum in February 2016, but did not get a satisfactory reply, so I’m trying again on this new system:
I’ve been searching for a piece of music for some time on JW Pepper and other internet sources with no success. It’s an arrangement of the spiritual “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” for SSAATTBB a cappella containing many divided passages. The arrangement starts with the choir repeating the words “Swing low” as soft accompaniment to the melody in the treble voices. It ends softly with the same repeated “Swing low” and a final hum. I performed the piece in 1974 with the Michigan School Vocal Association Honors Choir and I have a recording of the performance, but no printed music. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Stacey Gibbs from Detroit might know it. He arranges spirituals for choirs. You can find him under Stacey v Gibbs. He is conducting 100 singers at first Congregational church in Detroit July 29. All spirituals.

Doris,
Thanks for your response. I am baffled by this new website. How do I look up Stacey v Gibbs?

Unfortunately, I cannot help you with identifying the arrangement. But if you are open to looking at another arrangement that has contrasting sections with some jazz harmonies and lots of divisi let me know.
