Singing Together on Zoom — really! Zoom-specific compositions, and groups forming

April 1, 2021 by Anna Dembska Leave a Comment

I’ve been experimenting over the past year with composing part music that could be sung together on Zoom by members of my unauditioned, a capella community chorus in Downeast Maine, within these parameters:
* minimal technology and setup
* within the capabilities of our sketchy broadband, the quirks of Zoom and online latency, and my somewhat tech-phobic singers
* really singing together, with no muting

I soon discovered that working with a small group is more viable for singers to hear each other easily, and I’ve been composing/rehearsing/experimenting over the winter with 3 adventurous chorus members. It’s been fun, satisfying, and instructive for us all.

If you’re interested in or curious about this music or in participating in a Zoom singing group this spring, you can find out more here:
