Here’s a delightful history of the church: https://www.gofundme.com/bellsofstmartins
230 Malcolm X Blvd at 122nd St, NY.
Our chorus rehearses at several branch locations once a week (Manhattan, Flushing, Brooklyn, Northern New Jersey. See http://www.sinycchorus.com/join_the_chorus
for a general schedule.) and will come together with the whole group for this concert.
No auditions are required to participate, and we love newcomers(!), but we do require that you participate in enough rehearsals before the concert to really know the material and be on the same page as the rest of the chorus.
Choral offerings in this concert will include several African-American Spirituals and classical works:
My Lord, What a Mornin’ by Harry T. Burleigh
Daniel, Daniel by Undine Moore
Honor, Honor by Hall Johnson
Any How by Evelyn Pittman
the Agnus Dei movement from the Beethoven Mass in C .
Brahmn’s beautiful “Der Dunkeln Schloss”
Chorus rehearses and performs at the Verdi Tuning C= 256 Hz.
