The Chancel Choir of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is seeking section leaders, particularly altos, tenors, and countertenors.
For years, Holy Trinity Church has been a widely-recognized showcase for the rich Lutheran tradition of music, both in its inspiring worship services and through its annual concert series. The highlight 2015-16 season was an incredibly successful presentation of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, in collaboration with the SUNY Fredonia Masterworks Chorus, the Chautauqua Children’s Chorale, and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Holy Trinity’s widely acclaimed, largely volunteer Chancel Choir offers music for worship services from all periods from an enormous repertory. Special music is offered for festivals such as Easter, Christmas, Reformation, and others. The Choir rehearses from 7:00pm until 10:00pm Thursday evenings weekly from early September through early June, and more frequently prior to major festivals and concerts.
Compensation is $85 per week, which covers a Thursday rehearsal, as well as a Sunday service. In addition to singing regular 10:30am services, section leaders are expected to sing no fewer than two 8:30am early services per choir season, and will be assigned solos throughout the year as well.
To schedule an audition, please call Organist/Choirmaster James Bigham at (716) 886-2400, ext. 19.
