Pianist and Accompanist

Accepting applications for PIANIST/ACCOMPANIST

Christ Church United Methodist is looking for a pianist/accompanist to support its regular 10:15 Sunday service:
Gathering music prior to service
Offertory
Accompany the Chancel Choir
(rehearses from 7:00-8:15 on Thursdays , September through May)
We hope to find a pianist with these skills:
Sight read
Accompaniments
Choral parts: 2-stave, very rarely 4-part open score
Widely Literate—able to play:
Short solo pieces suitable for 3-5 minute offertories
Hymns and hymn arrangements
Traditional and contemporary choral accompaniments
Flexibility
Experiment with a different accompaniment styles
Piece together musical fragments to make a larger piece
Alternate playing accompaniments with playing choral parts (rehearsal and service)
Huge Plus!
Enthusiasm for supporting worship services filled heartfelt singing
Read and accompany from lead sheets (melody + chords)
Gospel or folk experience
Additional responsibilities at Christmas and during Holy Week. Undergraduate upper classperson or graduate student would be ideal, but not required. Salary negotiable.
