Paid internship at Carus-Verlag

July 1, 2024 by Ryan Sullivan Leave a Comment

Carus-Verlag wants to expand its services for choirs in the USA in a more targeted and tailored way. We are therefore looking for someone who is at home in the North American choral world and would like to work as an intern at Carus-Verlag for two to three months.

What we can offer you:
– Insight and understanding of the work of a music publishing house operating in the domestic and international arenas, involving close collaboration with all departments in the company; in particular sales, editing, marketing, record label and sheet music production
– The focus of your work will be on sales and promotional communication with US choral conductors
– Monthly renumeration of 2,300 Euros; working week of 40 hours; weekly hours can also be reduced if desired
– Internship period of at least two and preferably three months
– Support in applying for a temporary residence permit for Germany if applicable
– Support in finding accommodation if necessary
– Participation in external choral events with which Carus is involved (depending on the dates of your stay)
– If you wish, carus can put you in touch with choral conductors and/or festivals, for example, to help you gain further work experience in Germany or other European countries
– A friendly, understanding working environment in our company with almost 50 employees based in Stuttgart, Germany
– Free fruit, tea and coffee as well as a shared kitchen and garden for breaks during the work day

What you can offer us:
– You are very familiar with the US choral scene and the repertoire currently performed by choirs in the USA
– You are currently or have been involved as a choir manager, singer or director in the process from selection of works through rehearsal to final performance.
– You understand and can empathize with choral conductors and therefore have ideas and approaches to further develop Carus’ catalog and products to meet their needs and interests
– You enjoy classical choral music. Knowledge of contemporary choral music is welcome
– You have creative ideas and an open ear for the needs of choirs as well as for the possibilities of Carus to create relevant offers for US choirs
– You are currently studying or already have a degree in choral conducting, singing, music education, music, musicology or a comparable subject
– You have a sufficiently advanced knowledge of the Germany language that you can follow day to day conversations and meetings in German. The Carus team boasts English language skills, so we’re happy if you speak English in turn
– You are task-oriented and effective and have at least some experience in project management
– You enjoy working as a team

We look forward to meeting you! What interests you about working at Carus? Please send us the dates of your availability as well as a current resumé with references and copies of relevant qualifications and certificates. The e-mail address is .
If you have any questions, please contact Ester Petri () or Reiner Leister ().
